I was very pleased to be able to come today.	I’m happy that we came to the Kaapse Klopse, aren’t you?	The brass band was terrific, wasn’t it?
I was delighted to see it.	I especially liked the colourful costumes, didn’t you?	I wish it weren’t so busy though.
It didn’t live up to my expectations.	I’d rather have seen them win.	Unfortunately, I couldn’t participate in the parade.

De fanfare was geweldig, of niet?	Ik ben blij dat we naar de Kaapse Klopse zijn gekomen, jij niet?	Ik was erg blij dat ik kon komen vandaag.
Ik zou wel willen dat het minder druk was.	Ik vond vooral de kleurrijke kostuums mooi, jij niet?	Ik was heel blij dat ik het kon zien.
Jammer genoeg kon ik niet meedoen in de parade.	Ik had ze liever zien winnen.	Het voldeed niet aan mijn verwachtingen.

It’s a pity that there aren’t any food stalls, isn’t it?	Let me tell you about my weekend.	We arrived early in the morning.
At first everything was fun.	Then we went on the chair swing.	After that it was dry, so we went to the funfair.
In short, you went to the funfair.	In the end, we had a nice day despite the (bad) weather.	So, (what you’re saying is,) it’s a fun outing if the weather’s nice.
In a nutshell: I was!

We kwamen vroeg in de ochtend aan.	Laat me je vertellen over mijn weekend.	Het is jammer dat er geen etenskraampjes zijn, nietwaar?
Daarna was het droog, dus gingen we naar de kermis.	Toen gingen we in de zweefmolen.	Eerst was alles leuk.
Dus, (wat je zegt is:) het is een leuk uitje als het mooi weer is.	Uiteindelijk hebben we een mooie dag gehad ondanks het (slechte) weer.	Kortom: je bent naar de kermis geweest.
		In een notendop: dat was ik!
